We often receive the same question from multiple people, so we have compiled a list of the most frequently asked questions (faqs) here. If you have a question for us, it may be listed here. What can I do with wildlife that appears injured?

Sometimes I have to wait longer than expected when I visit. Why is this?

Do you take your own emergency cases after hours?

While our doctors and staff have dedicated their lives to caring for animals, we cannot be at the hospital all hours of the day. We are fortunate to have some incredible emergency clinics throughout the Greater Houston Area, including three within a 20 minute drive-time from Claws & Paws. These hospitals do an incredible job of communicating with us when one of our patients visits their facility and they send us a record of the visit so we can add it to your pet’s medical record here.

Do I need to make an appointment, or can I just stop by when it is convenient for me and my pet?

We prefer that you make an appointment with us and we try to make it easy to do. You can request on here, or you can call us to schedule it at 281.997.1426. We do this so that we can schedule your pet’s appointment with your preferred veterinarian and it is more likely you will be in-and-out in a more timely manner. Walk-ins will be accommodated, but patients with an appointment will have priority unless of course, you have an emergency, in which case, we will assess your pet and prioritize him/her based on needs.

What are your recommendations on Microchipping my pet?

We recommend all pets get a microchip as this serves as the best means of ensuring your pet gets returned to you should he/she become lost. We can share countless stories of families being reunited quickly as a result of their pet having a microchip implanted.

When my pet boards with Claws & Paws, does he stay in his cage/kennel the entire time?

All dogs are not walked & exercised a minimum of twice a day in a fenced-in area behind our hospital. Puppies under six months of age have walked a minimum of three times a day. All pets receive individual attention when going outside and throughout their stay. If you feel like your pet would like additional attention or goodies, we also have a Pampered Pet Package where they receive personal playtime daily brushing and extra treats. Please ask one of our staff members when you call to schedule your boarding reservation. Yes, reservations are needed. Particularly during holiday and summer seasons.

Do dogs and cats really need to have their teeth cleaned professionally?
